Amplifier conformance testing to EN 303 354

The Radio Equipment Directive (RED, formally known as Directive 2014/53/EU) applies to all equipment that intentionally transmits or receives radio waves. Conformance to the technical requirements of the Directive can be demonstrated by either of two ways:

  • Conformance with a Harmonised Standard that is registered under the RED;
  • Use of a notified body.

In the case of amplifiers for domestic TV reception, EN 303 354 "Amplifiers and active antennas for TV broadcast reception in domestic premises; Harmonised Standard covering the essential requirements of article 3.2 of Directive 2014/53/EU" has been developed. Demonstrating that an amplifier meets the requirements of this standard is sufficient to show that Article 3.2 of the Directive has been satisfied.

Mandercom was closely involved in the development of this standard, and now is able to offer cost-effective testing of domestic TV signal amplifiers (including MATV system launch amplifiers) against its requirements, which include:

  • Gain;
  • Selectivity;
  • Noise figure;
  • Intermodulation;
  • Return loss (input and output);
  • Internal immunity.
